Korean Skincare

Hello everyone!

I know it has been a really long time since my last posting. I've been really busy with school and I also spent half of the summer overseas in Singapore, Korea and the Philippines.

While I was in Korea, I went CRAZY with skincare and picked up a TON. The next few posts will be posts dedicated to the treasures I picked up from there and all the things that I fell in love with! Stay tuned! Below are some pictures of my exploits. :)

I know there's a large volume of products below but a lot a what I received was free. In Korea, stores have a thing called "service" which is basically when they pile you up with free stuff as a thank you for buying things at their store. Often it will be small packets of cream, vials of emulsion/toner and even face masks. :)

Innisfree is my absolute FAVORITE store and I'll explain why in the upcoming posts.

The L'Oréal Extraordinary Hair line

So this will be a very small little review detailing my experience with the L'Oréal Extraordinary Hair shampoo and conditioner.

I received these products for free from influenster through a VoxBox, however my review is 100% unbiased and my honest opinion.

I really liked these products. I have pretty dry hair and that's honestly because I neglect my hair and I don't take nearly as much time taking care of it as I do other things. However before I got these products I started to try taking better care of it. I bought some nice high end salon shampoos and conditioners and JUST as I was about to start using them, I got this.

The shampoo is bomb. I love it! My hair was soft and it wasn't difficult to move through my hair and lather. It smelled... sweet. Not my usual desire in a shampoo but definitely not an unpleasant scent. The conditioner I liked too. I will say however that I'm not sure if I was using too much, or if the conditioner is just really thick, but after using it for about 2 weeks my shower drain got clogged up and when I cleaned it out it was just a lot of residual conditioner and strands of hair. I've never had that happen to me before so I guess that means that this conditioner is really really thick. Overall, I would honestly purchase this on my own. I really like what it did for my hair. My hair felt soft and shiny and I just think that this is a really great product for the drugstore. I never would have tried it if it hadn't been sent to me, so I'm glad that I got the chance!

I know these reviews are EVERYWHERE but I think that this was actually a real quality product from L'Oréal.  Give it a shot if you had dry easily breakable hair like it did!

Also I just want to add that I have very thin hair and this did not make my hair look or feel greasy or anything negative like that. :)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyebrow products

Hello my panda babies! So today I'm reviewing the ABH eyebrow products. I'm medium brown so that's the only color I have so that will be the only swatches you see. Now let's get onto the review:

Dipbrow: I have messed up eyebrows and so I have to completely pluck half of my left eyebrow off. Since I've been doing that, I've had a hard time finding something that can fill in that half of my brows and not fade away during the day on my oily skin: enter the dipbrow. God, I love this product. Words cannot describe how much I love this product. It lasts all day, it's dark enough that it can actually make that end of my eyebrow look like it's an eyebrow and not like I took a Crayola marker and decided to draw in my eyebrow with it. -_- Love this. Out of all the products that she offers, this is my absolute must have.

Perfect brow pencil: So I picked this up a like 2 weeks ago during Ulta's 21 days of beauty for $7. With that price point, I like this product a lot. However if I had paid >$20 for it, I would feel differently. As you can see in the swatch, it's not very pigmented. I really had to try and swatch with a notable amount of pressure to get that payoff. Otherwise I like it. If you want a really natural brow and only need a light amount fill in, then this would be good for you.

Brow Wiz: This is my favorite of all the pencils. This product is really popular so you probably don't need my opinion on it. I love this product because of my ability to really control where the color goes and I can really get a defined look if that's what I'm looking for.

Brow Definer: The last two swatches you see on the right are taken with the brow definer. The first swatch was taken with the wider side of the brow definer and the last swatch was taken with the narrow/pointy part of the brow definer. I'm not a huge fan of this product because even though it has those different edges because I feel like I lose the control that I had in the brow wiz. The pigmentation is fine I guess but also not as good as it is with the brow wiz. Overall this product is just not my favorite and I probably won't purchase this again when I run out.

Well that was my review guys! I hope it was okay, if you have any other products that you would like to have me review (and if I have it) then just let me know! :)

XOXO,

Hannah

The Girlactik Matte Lip Paints

On my insta I posted a picture of the Girlactik lip paints that I have so I thought that I would post a small review on the blog for anyone else looking for someone's opinion on them. For your reference I'm NC20. Also, please forgive me for my ugly swatches, I'm a noob.

Left to right: Demure, Allure, Flirtatious, Bashful, Starlet

So the Girlactik lip paints are not cheap. They're $23 a piece and shipping is usually around $6 so again, not cheap. However, in the defense of these pricey little babies, you get a TON of product for the price. When you get the tube you open it and the product on the doe foot is MORE than enough to cover both of your lips. Now I'm not trying to say that there's a crazy amount of product on the doe foot, more like the small amount present goes a LONG way.

In addition to a little going a long way, the formula of these lipsticks is wonderful! By far, Girlactik has the most comfortable formula I have ever tried. They dry matte, they're neither moisturizing nor drying and they last a long time. I will add however, that once you find that you need to reapply, I would only reapply over the old lipstick maybe once or twice more. After that, you should just remove all of it and apply it again. I say this because it tends to get thick and crumbly with a crap ton a layers on top of one another.

Currently I think the code YWP15 (a code I got from youngwildandpolished) gets you 15% off which is really good deal for Girlactik. Usually when the owner (who is awesome and very receptive to customers) offers a code, it is either a 10% off code or a free shipping code.

Well those are my thoughts on the Girlactik lip paints! Ask below if you have any questions!

Candy K vs. other shades

So I don't actually own Candy K ($8 for shipping? Honey, no.) but I had a friend that bought it and she let me swatch it so I could compare the color to other shades that I had. The following photo is on my NC20 hand, has no filters, and was taken in sunlight. I will hyperlink the names of the shades with the place you can buy them if they are available for purchase.

Top to bottom: Innocent Vixen by La Splash, Celebrity Skin by Jeffree Star Cosmetics, Bashful by Girlactik, Candy K by Kylie Cosmetics, Oh Snap by Colourpop Cosmetics, Pinch by Colourpop Cosmetics

At the time that I took this photo, I just chose colors that I thought might be similar. As you can see some were SERIOUS misses while other's were semi-close. I would say my swatch of Bashful next to Candy K was the closest. It was so close in fact that I almost had a hard time remembering which swatch was which. Below is another picture of Bashful next to Candy K.
Bashful (top) and Candy K (bottom)

As you can see, they seem pretty darn close in color. However just by looking at the photo, you can see that the formulas are pretty different. I personally LOVE Bashful and I think it's a bomb dupe for Candy K. So, if you're having a hard time getting your hands on Candy K or you're just like me and you don't want to spend $8 on shipping, try Bashful out!

About me 🐼

Just wanted to offer up a little bit about who I am so you can know the person behind all these posts.

My name is Hannah and I'm currently 21 (just a wee babe). I currently live SMACK DAB in the middle of the country in the beautiful land of Kansas (*cough* *cough* go Royals). Also, before you ask, we do NOT have a lot of tornados. I'm a student at the University of Kansas and I'll be graduating in 2017. I'm actually really involved in extracurricular activities and other things so if I ever disappear for a while, I'm probably doing school work (hopefully) or volunteering.

My mother is Filipino and my dad is American (he's actually from Kansas). I grew up in Denver, CO and when I was in middle school we moved to Guam and lived there for a few years before we moved to Kansas. I've travelled all around Asia but I (very sadly) do not speak any other languages than English. I watch way too much Netflix and Korean dramas (but not as much as my mom) and I like to watch pimple popping videos (gross, but so satisfying). I am a dog person (ones large enough to sit on me and crush me), lover of fat chubby animals/children, and hater of the gym (which is why my but is so big). I made this blog because I don't have a lot of friends that are as interested/obsessed with makeup as I am and since I usually have so much to say and no one to say it to, I thought that making a beauty blog would be really fun!

Looking forward to our future makeup adventures together.

Welcome to Makeup Malady!

Hello my perfect little pandas and welcome to my blog!

The purpose of this blog is to review products that I get my hands on, provide swatches of products that I get and offer makeup tips! As a disclaimer, I am definitely NOT a makeup artist, I am not a makeup expert, and I am not doing this for anything but for fun. I just want to provide swatches, reviews and other good things for people like me from the POV of someone who is NOT a makeup guru.

The name of my blog basically means "makeup disease," because if any of you are like me, you KNOW that once you start getting obsessed with makeup, it becomes more like a chronic disease that takes over your life as opposed to a transient illness or hobby.

I hope you enjoy my posts and I'm looking forward to having fun with makeup with you all! :)

My goal for this blog is for it to give us all as much confidence as this panda.
BTW - I am obsessed with pandas and I will probably work them into any post I possibly can.

XOXO,

Hannah
